Keni served as a combat assault dog (CAD) with the Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) from 2011-2017. During this time Keni participated in multiple exercises and training all across Australia and internationally, such as in the Philippines and New Zealand. He attended all training his handler did, which meant he often had to fast rope from Blackhawk helicopters and even did multiple parachute jumps, both free fall and static line with his handler. He also served on active duty on multiple Domestic Counter-Terrorism (DCT) rotations within the SASR. Keni retired due to spinal injuries caused by his intense service in 2017.
