Scout was trained as an explosive detection dog and certified in 2018. He lived a short career, as when his handler discharged in 2020 he retired also, as the army had a surplus of dogs at the time. Scout was then repurposed as a drug detection dog for a private company. He passed the NSW course and worked as an operational drug dog until 2023 where he was very successful in keeping drugs out of NSW jails.  Scout is now retired and lives in Tasmania.
